THE SECOND TIME AROUND is the true story of what happened when my former mother-in-law decided to remarry her first husband after her fourth husband died at the racetrack with a winning ticket in his hand.  If you didn't know this story was true, you would definitely think it was fiction.

THE WORLD OUTSIDE THE WINDOW          A new anthology by 20 Amazon Shorts authors.

Have you ever wondered how authors come up with their stories?  We all had the same set of criteria and each author had their own vision of what the narrator saw outside the window.  Everything from sci-fi to historical.  My story is

"Saying Goodbye to Miss Molly"

  HOW COOL IS THIS?

After my presentation on April 1, 2007 at the Clark County Library in Las Vegas, I got to speak to a young girl who only wanted to talk to me after my participation on a panel.  We talked for about ten minutes and she said she wanted to be a writer so I gave her some tips and told her how Phyllice and I started writing...Phyllice as a child and me as a late bloomer.

"Shopping for Dancing Shoes", appears as the first story in CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SHOPPER'S SOUL.  This is the story of what happened the last time I took my mother shopping.  Rosetta passed in 2006,  just shy of her 97th birthday.

As a contributing author, I'm extremely proud to be associated with the prestigious New York Times Best Selling Chicken Soup for the Soul® book series. With 65 titles and written in 37 languages, over 85 million copies have been sold to date, making this the most successful book series in the history of publishing.

Just a few Notes...

June 7, 2008

Most of my mental meanderings can be found on my Live Journal blog but now and then I post here as well.  As though I wasn't balancing enough balls in the air, I've started working on my government spoof novel again, "Welcome to Paradise."  It will be like Nine to Five meets The First Wives Club.  I forgot how much fun it is to work on that one.  Oh, by the way, Paradise is a fictional federal prison.  Visit my blog where I talk about writing, family, post pictures and more.

April 21, 2008

I just got back from a wonderful vacation.  Ten days in England with my daughter Jakki, Scott and my two little grandsons.  From there on to a Western Mediterranean cruise followed by three glorious days in Barcelona.  I fell in love with Barcelona and will be posting photos on my personal website, www.morganstjames-author.com.  I haven't written a travel article in several years, but this trip inspired me to make the time to do just that in between working on my new novel Death Takes a Curtain Call, the new Silver Sisters book and some short story projects.  Who needs to sleep?  Morgan

We can see the light at the end of the tunnel for Seven Deadly Samovars.  Preview copies of the manuscript are going out to our first readers during the next few weeks.  There should be an audio book in 2008.  Not sure yet about the paperback timing.

October 10, 2007

I have been writing like crazy and working on multiple projects.  I finally finished my children's picture book, LA RUE THE LLAMA HELPS HIS MAMA, one that I originally wrote in 1978.  So far, two rejections, but we'll keep sending out the queries.

My Story: "Measuring Miracles in Leaps and Bounds" is about a wonderful couple who changed the lives of thousands of handicapped kids and young adults.

 OTHER PROJECTS IN WORK...

I'm still working on WELCOME TO PARADISE which is a humorous novel about a shady scheme to embezzle from the government...picture Nine to Five meets First Wives Club.  As soon as Seven Deadly Samovars is finished and sent to the publishers, I'll go back to working on this funny novel.

There is also DEATH TAKES A CURTAIN CALL, a woman-in-jeopardy/romance book that I've only been writing for NINE years.  I finally finished the manuscript and have started to query agents and publishers.

A FEW NOTES ABOUT THESE TWO BOOKS:

Welcome to Paradise and Death Takes a Curtain Call are both written in first person, and that is one of the reasons Death Takes a Curtain Call was hard for me to write for extended periods of time.

It isn't about me, but was inspired by true incidents that happened to someone I knew. I get very involved emotionally in this manuscript so I had to take breaks and write the funny stuff.

Both of these manuscripts are stand alone and have nothing to do with each other or the Silver Sisters.
