USA Book News chooses SILVER SISTERS MYSTERY
BEST AUDIO MYSTERY BOOK - 2007. Sister authors Morgan St. James and Phyllice Bradner's hilarious whodunit, A CORPSE IN THE SOUP, published by Books in Motion, Inc. and read by Stephanie Brush, nabs Best Audio Book Mystery.
A CORPSE IN THE SOUP is the debut novel in the Silver Sisters Mysteries series. SEVEN DEADLY SAMOVARS, the second book in the series, is nearing completion.
Morgan and Phyllice, both published writers who loved reading funny mysteries, live in different states and weren’t particularly close as sisters. During a telephone conversation a few years ago, they decided to create the Silver Sisters, and include characters based upon their wacky family.
As an unexpected bonus, while writing A CORPSE IN THE SOUP Morgan and Phyllice became best friends. Even though they are five and a half years apart in age, they are frequently asked if they are twins.
The Silver Sisters’ personalities are loosely based upon those of Morgan and Phyllice, so they anticipate every move their wacky twins will make.
They sometimes stumble into what they call “situations” and always receive unwanted help from their eighty-year-old mother and uncle, former vaudeville magicians who love to dress up in costume and go undercover.
When Caesar Romano, star of Flirting With Food, visits Godiva in an attempt to do damage control after she is poisoned on his TV show, he not only flirts with food, but with Godiva as well. Caesar reveals that he doesn’t think the poisoning was accidental…he is sure it was sabotage. Then people start to die during an over-the-top televised contest reminiscent of World Wrestling Federation at the Galleria Food Court, and the twins know he is not being overly dramatic.
Characters like Biff Wellington, Moishe Matusmoto and Sterling Silver are brought to life by reader Stephanie Brush with her variety of voices and dialects. This tongue in cheek mystery is sure to please. A CORPSE IN THE SOUP is available in paperback, e-book, CD, cassette and MP3 download and is in the collection of many libraries.
